New Museum 'to reveal history…

A new museum in Turkey will reveal the hidden history and culture of Antalya, according to reports.

The Antalya City Museum is expected to explore the sides of the holiday resort that are not ordinarily seen by visitors searching for sun, sea and sand.



According to the Turkish Daily News, the museum will set out with the aim of contributing to the development of a historical awareness and respect among visitors and residents of Antalya.



Founded by the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality and based near Karaalioglu Park, the establishment is expected to be completed in 2010.



City mayor Menderes Turel said: "Rather than building an ordinary museum in a short time, we would like to construct a city museum founded on strong bases and with a long-term vision that will well reflect Antalya’s past and present.



"We hope and plan to complete the project step by step so it will be able to send out a warm welcome to both local and international visitors."
